The Warriors came away with a bracket champion, a pair of second-place finishers, and two other top four finishers Saturday at a wrestling tournament at Chase County High School in Cottonwood Falls.
Ezra Darnall finished strongest among Marion wrestlers, defeating all other competition to become tournament champion in the 132-pound weight bracket.
Jarrett Johnson and Noah Albin advanced to finals in their respective brackets, but finished as runners-up after losing matches.
Remington Putter placed third at 160 pounds, and Tyler Palic came in fourth at 195 pounds.
Marion was fourth as a team.
“Ezra wrestled really well,” coach Chad Adkins said. “The team race didn’t come out like we wanted due to the fact that we were missing a couple guys, but we learned some things that we needed to learn, so it was good.”
The Warriors compete against 24 other teams in a two-day regionals tournament at 2 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday in Marion.
