The annual meeting of the Neosho-Cottonwood Flood Control and Conservation Association was held in Marion Monday. More than 145 Marion countians and visitors attended the luncheon meeting before touring the Marion Dam and Reservoir area.

Marion High School mixed chorus presented a vocal concert Tuesday evening in the city auditorium. Solo parts were sung by Mary Westerhaus, Judy Pankratz, Rodney Oelschlager, Helen Jackson, Toni McElwain, and Beverly Hoch. Accompanists were Pat Warneke and Mary Westerhaus.

Street lights will go on, with beautiful colored bulbs strung along both side of Main street; stores will be open later than usual; and generous prizes are being offered to adults and children alike at Marion’s annual Christmas opening to be held this Friday, Nov. 26.

Pat Jackson’s girls physical education advanced classes at Marion High School have completed their golf phase and two golf tournaments. Susan Bailey and Linda Amick were winners in a Scotch two-some team contest. Rita Jost took first in a match-hole handicap tournament, Linda Amick was second, Barbara Bailey third, and Barbara Hunt fourth.

P.D. Ens, county health officer, is urging residents to obtain flu shots as early as possible since an influenza outbreak appears likely this winter.
