Alfred Swann, owner of Swann Sundry and Prescription Shop, has announced plans to rebuild his store in a new location. He has purchased the lots at the southeast corner of Fourth and Main from Dean Batt. The lot formerly housed Gound Used Car location.

LeRoy J. Bingaman is a new member of the Soil Conservation Service staff that assists farmers and ranchers in Marion County. Mrs. Bingaman and their six children have been in Marion since school started. Mr. Bingaman stayed in Ulysses the past three weeks to complete some work.

Dr. E.K. Schroeder has purchased property on East Main from Ed Navrat and will construct a modern office building for his dental practice there.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dale of Florence announce the engagement of their daughter, Shirley Jo, to John R. (Rocky) Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Hett of Marion. The wedding will take place Nov. 7.

Sam Frazer of Kiowa and DeVaughn Dean of Holmesville, Nebraska, were the only members of the 1915 graduating class in the park on Old Settlers’ Day. Harry Kline was unable to be present because of illness.

Stan Kenton, internationally famous band leader, is shown as he visits with Steve Heinz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Heinz of Marion. Steve recently attended a performance in Wichita where the Kenton band was playing. He not only spent considerable time with Mr. Kenton that evening, but also was a guest at breakfast with the band the next morning at the Lassen Hotel.
