Successful bidder for the former Marion County Home, “Cedar Rest,” was Arthur Claassen with a bid of $7,680. The bid was for the 32 acres of land and the building. Other items were sold piece by piece.

The first name drawn in this year’s kid’s Christmas drawing was Tim Zerger’s He received a flash camera outfit. Other winners were Nancy Bennett, who received a Barbie Dream House; Tommy Howell, an electric football game; and Kathryn Bezdek, big stuffed animal.

Glenn Shields, Lincolnville Wide-Awake 4-H’er has been named National Winner in the 4-H Tractor Program and will receive a $500 scholarship to be applied on his college education.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Turner are developing a promising new industry at their farm west of town in the production of high quality chili they now are making and marketing all over Kansas.

Ron Oelschleger, star KU fullback, will be honored at a banquet in New York City next week when he receives the Blaik Fellowship award.

Offered several professional football contracts and drafted by the Denver Bronco, Oelschlager turned all of them down and instead plans to study medicine.
