Major General W.R. “Curly” Wolfinbarger of Winter Haven, Florida, who still claims Marion as his “home,” got up from the ranks of his Company M buddies of World War I, seated with him on the platform on Old Settlers Day, and gave a fine and appropriate speech to headline the afternoon park program.

An interesting letter was received this week from former Marion High School coach Dale Miller and Mrs. Miller. They now are teaching with the Navy in Sicily. Their son, Dick and family make their home in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he is setting up libraries in the schools.

A truck loaded with cattle drove off the roadway east of Florence on US-50 Monday night and let 30 head of cattle loose onto the highway. Trooper Rex Clothier summoned Bud McLinden who used his horse to round up the stray animals and clear the highway.
