Federated clubs of Marion honored teachers in the Marion school system this week by presenting them with individual flowers in observance of American Education Week.

Three Marion Girl Scouts, all named Jan, got a special treat last Saturday at Emporia — they climbed up to the cab door of the big Santa Fe diesel engine to meet the engineer before their special Girl Scout streamliner left on a day’s round trip to Abilene. The three are Jan VanBuren, Janice Jantz, and Jan Herrick.

Laurence Webster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marium Webster of Marion, has been promoted by the A.L. Duckwall Company to assistant manager of the Duckwall store in Boulder, Colorado.

The musical “Oklahoma” will be presented by the Marion High School senior class on Nov. 22 and 23. Lead parts will be played by Donna Hanschu, Chris Hauser, Max Jackson, Connie Warneke, Doug Bass, and Tom Tucker. Ruby Winkley is the accompanist.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Keller will leave this Sunday on a week-long all-expense paid vacation to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The trip is first prize in a Carrier sales contest. They will enjoy a week of sightseeing, beach parties, deep-sea fishing, and other entertainment.
