The 1963 wheat harvest in Marion County is all poised and ready to roll. Prospects are promising for a good harvest.

The Marion swimming pool opened on a rather chilly Memorial Day with 65 swimmers. The pool is being managed by Kenneth C. Hartman. Lifeguards are Donna Jost and John Hoover. Helping in the basket room are JoAnn Magee and Judy Pankratz. Blair Post and Bob Elling are helping with the cleaning and maintenance of the pool.

Mrs. Edwin G. Westerhaus presented the following students in a piano recital June 2 in the city building auditorium: Patti Vinduska, Laurie Brose, Marcia Steinel, Janet Lawrence, Terry Plenert, Bryce Ollenberger, Gary Melcher, Marion Lawrence, Jackie Thomas, Kathleen Westerhaus, Patty Sue Plenert, and Mary Westerhaus.

Two days of fine sailboat racing for time “Lido” class vessels were held Saturday and Sunday at the Marion County Lake. The event, a “Lido Regatta” was the christening of the newly- formed Marion County Yacht Club.

Members of the Lincolnville High School Class of 1930 held a class reunion at Kingfisher’s Inn at the Marion County Lake Saturday evening. Class members present were Alphonse Bosh, Pauline Hanus Klenda, Caroline Stika, Alfred Pritz, June Pritz Meyer, Herbert Riffel, Otto Tiemeier, and Victor Lewerenz.

Mrs. Viola Jost, Marion County Superintendent, was elected vice president of the Kansas Association of County Superintendents at the organization’s annual meeting in Topeka this week.
