The county commissioners, at a meeting last Wednesday, came to the conclusion that the site for the location of the county home for the aged would be in the Hawk block in the west central part of Peabody.

The “Beef Cook-Off Contest” for high school senior girls, sponsored by the Marion County Cow Belles, was held last Saturday at the high school home economics room. The winner was Delores Linn for her “lemon baked steak.” The two runners-up were Kay Amick, beef burgers, and Sharon Youk, baked chuck steak.

Florence Kristek of Ramona was crowned queen at the Sweetheart Ball Feb. 15 at St. Joseph College where she is completing her senior year. Miss Kristek is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kristek of Ramona.

Marion Warriors won their first round in the district basketball tournament at Peabody this week when they defeated Florence, 65-46. Jackson was high point man with 16. Schwemmer made 14, Just 12, Ensey 11, Kelsey 5, Keazer 5, and Schimpf and Hamlin one each.

Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Kline entertained members of the historical committee of the Evangelical Brethren Church Monday evening at dinner. Following the dinner, the committee worked on the church history.
