The Sisters Adorers of the Most Precious Blood, owners and operators of St, Luke Hospital in Marion, announced this week, on the recommendation of their financial adviser, the necessity of leaving the operation and maintenance of their hospital here. An acute shortage of Sisters in the religious community was given as the primary reason for leaving.

Jim Kline, former sheriff of Marion County has been appointed to an important position in Texas where he will be director of a police-training academy.

Earl Winter, Scoutmaster of Troop 102, was pleasantly surprised Saturday at noon when Scouts from his troop gathered at his home to present him with a colorful carved totem pole in honor of his birthday.

Thomas Britain, 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Britain, received word this week that he was one of the winners in a recent coloring contest sponsored by the Pillsbury Company. Tom’s prize was a Space Station, Space Crawler Action set.

A sneak thief took $230 in cash from an open safe at Buckley’s Grocery Thursday, while an accomplice kept Bryan Bell busy at the front of the store. Mr. Bell was alone at the time and could not watch both men. While he was waiting on one, looking for some “sweet” chewing tobacco, the other man evidently took the cash for the safe.
