Again, this year, Marion residences and business houses will have the benefit of a liberal discount figured on their electric rates if they sign up to take advantage of an offer that is being repeated by the City Commission.

“Moonlight Madness” will take over Marion this coming Monday night when many stores will re-open for business at 9 p.m. and stay open until midnight if necessary. Don’t miss the fun in Marion Monday night. See the nightshirt parade, and take advantage of some ridiculous values.

Mary Westerhaus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin G. Westerhaus and a sophomore at the University of Kansas, has been named a member of the 280-voice K.U. Chorus at the university.

Teresa Hett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hett, left Wichita by jet Wednesday evening and four hours later was with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lew Rothman, in New York City.

Both the Marion Methodist Church and the old “Hill Grade” building have recently been sandblasted and show the beauty of their native stone buildings. Marion County Commissioners, on Monday, let a bid to Central States Waterproofing Co. of Fort Scott to renovate all outside stonework on the county courthouse.

Mr. and Mrs. Jon Thole of Marion are the proud parents of their first child, a daughter, Michelle Sue, born Nov. 4 at St. Luke Hospital.
