Bids were opened Tuesday to provide dial telephone service to several towns and rural communities in Marion County and surrounding area. The installation of equipment is tentatively planned to begin in September 1968 and be completed by January 1969

Darlene Pecinovsky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Pecinovsky of Tampa, was voted Marion High School homecoming queen and reigned over the second half of the Marion-Peabody football game Friday night. Her attendants were Michelle Hett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hett, and Teresa Seifert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Seifert.

Cadet Scouts of Troop 62 were busy Monday afternoon as they folded and stuffed the 1967 shipment of Christmas Seals into envelopes. Pictured as they helped were Laura Brose, Debbie Case, Joanie Elling, Jane Lentz, Teresa Hett, Susie Wood, Shirley Hamm, Lola Seibel, Marsha Steinel, Janice Bowers, Janet Lawrence, Brenda Richmond, and Donna Anderson.

Rose Marie Loveless, daughter of Judge and Mrs. Henry Loveless, has graduated and received her commission from Naval Officer Candidate School at Newport, Rhode Island. She has been assigned to the Naval Air Station at Alameda, San Francisco, California.

Children in the neighborhood of the Elmer Pritz home gathered after school Wednesday to surprise Mr. Pritz on his birthday.
