Kiwanians Roger Hannaford, Dave Hanson, Jack Applegate, and Matthew Classen flew to Leavenworth Tuesday for an inter-club meeting with the Leavenworth Kiwanis Club. Dave Hanson piloted the plane.
Marion High School speech and drama students competed in the district contest at Sterling College Saturday and came home with six I’s and eight II’s. Those receiving I’s were Patty Plenert, Jan Varenhorst, Susan Yeagley, Becky Herrick, Norman Mueller, and Pat Costello.
Mrs. Viola Jost, Marion County Superintendent of Public Instruction, has been named Kansas Merit Mother of 1967 by the Kansas American Mother’s Committee.
Cathy Palmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Palmer of Marion, received an honorable mention award in the Kansas Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow contest in Manhattan.
Students from Marion Elementary School taking first place honors at the Marion County Science Fair held recently at Tabor College were Marilee McGinness and Kathy Regnier, 7th grade biological science; Lucinda Jost, 8th grade biological science; and Randy Perkins, 7th grade physical science.
Golf equipment valued at $267 was stolen sometime Monday night from Marion Hardware. Missing is a Wilson bag, a complete set of woods, a complete set of irons, some tees, and five boxes of golf balls.
