Marion’s new athletic stadium is taking shape fast. The stadium will seat 1,200 and will extend between the two 30-yard lines on the west side of the playing field. All new lighting also is being erected. The track will be excavated, will have an inside concrete curb, a rock base, and mixed substance surface.

Winners in the “Litterbug poster” contest were named this week by members of the federated women’s’ club. Winners were fourth grade, Darryl Ehrlich, Ronald Weber, Ronald Bezdek, and Pat Kjellin; fifth grade, Doug Helmer, Debbie Enos, Becky Wood, Janet Ehrlich, and Melody Meier; sixth grade, Teresa Case and Daryl Enos; eighth grade, Janet Hanson.

Suzanne Bailey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bailey of Marion, has completed her preliminary period of nursing education at Stormont-Vail School of Nursing and received her coveted cap Jan. 27.

A birthday party at the Harold Woerz home Saturday afternoon was enjoyed by Diane Woerz. Little friends invited to help celebrate her eighth birthday were Carol Colburn, LeFran McGranor Carolyn Decker, Rosana Cook, Rita Warkentin, Lori Schmidtberger, Teresa Waner and Krista VanBuren.

Mrs. Frances Brunner of Hillsboro announces the engagement of her daughter, Betty Ann, to Donald Stenzel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Stenzel, Marion. Easter Sunday, March 26, has been chosen for their wedding date.
