Marion High School “Queen of Courts” for 1967 will be crowned Friday night. Girls nominated this year are Susan Lentz, Karen Siebert, Janet Varenhorst, Cindy Ingram, and Roxanna Zerger.

Two young men from this area, Dean Jost and Joe Roblin, have been making sweet popular music with their singing and guitar accompaniment for quite a few months, especially on Thursday evening at the Pizza Corner here in Marion.

Deanna Klenda, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Klenda, was recently honored when the men of Phi Kappa Theta selected her as an “honorary sweetheart.” This is a distinct honor for Miss Klenda since it is the first time the fraternity has named an honorary sweetheart.

Marion Mashers ruthlessly smashed the Marion Old Stars Thursday evening in the local gymnasium, 120-59, but the defeated team has challenged their victors to a rematch. Leading scorer for the Old Stars was Keith Conyers with 14. Jack Beaston had 12; Matthew Classen and Dave Hanson, 10; Gerald Higgins, 7; and Earl Wood, 6. Scoreless players were Alex Case Jr. and Alfred E. Newman. Boyce Baumgartner led the Mashers with 30 points. He was followed by Gerry Harris and Tom Shirley, 28 each, and Don Druse, 22.
