Work will start soon on another attractive building improvement project for the downtown Marion business district when a new front will be installed at Marion National Bank.

A good-sized group of Chamber of Commerce members at the special highway meeting last Friday noon overwhelmingly approved the plan of the State Highway Department for major improvement and permanent location of highway US-56 through Marion.

Marine Capt. Richard Schwartz received a joyful reception this week from many friends and his family as he returned from a 13-month tour of duty in the thick of the fighting in Viet Nam.

Susan Hansen, Mike Steinel, and Steven Heinz are attending the two-week summer music camp at KSTC, Emporia.

Tee shirts, with sponsors’ names, have been distributed this week among each of the four teams in the Pee Wee and Midget baseball summer leagues. Players on the Midget team sponsored by Case & Son include Doug Keazer, Doug Marler, Steve Behrendt, H. Crainer, Steve Warkentin, Fred Nelson, Pat Heinz, Chris Costello, Bob Nelson, Merle Nelson, Dennis Schafers, Jeff Longhofer, Gary Hill, and Tommy Howell.

Ed Frickey, former Marion High School principal, was named this past week as associate executive secretary of the Kansas State Teachers Association in Topeka.
