Marion County Commission this week approved in general the plan of the Marion County Fair Board to move the fair from its present location in downtown Hillsboro to a new park and site to be built in a portion of Hillsboro’s Memorial Park in the southwest part of the city.

Marsha Poppe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Poppe of Lincolnville holds three state and one national record in Junior Olympics competition. In the Bantam Division for girls 8 and 9 years of age, she holds the national record in softball throw, and state records in broad jump, running broad jump and standing broad jump.

A grand opening will be held this weekend at a new enterprise for this area, the Kansas Division of T & T Chinchilla Ranch located ¾ mile east of U.S.-77 at the Antelope corner. Manager Keith Nelson will show visitors through the plant.

Several I ratings were earned by MHS students at the State Music Festival. Those receiving that ranking include the mixed chorus, girls’ glee club, band, and individuals Steve Heinz, Mike Steinel, Cindy Powell, and Judy Pankratz.
