A permanent improvement for the Marion County road system is a new “hot mix” plant which was purchased recently. This plant is to produce hot mix material for use on the roads of the county. The plant is located near the center of the county, on land owned by the county at the former site of Cedar Rest.

Pictured on the front page is an example of a fine new improvement to Main Street—the beginning of the new home of Swann Drug Store at the corner of Fourth and Main Sts.

If plans continue as they have started, Marion’s federated clubs will be actively helping with a project of establishing a new Roadside Park at the west edge of Marion. Members of Marion Kiwanis Club did initial underbrush clearance work on the park last summer. The park will be an ideal place for travelers with trailers to stop for the night.

Strassburg Baptist Church voted last week to build badly needed classrooms, restrooms, a nursery and a foyer sometime in the near future.

Howard Link of Marion Motor Center will be honored Saturday at a banquet at the Muehlbach Hotel in Kansas City for an outstanding sales performance during 1965.

One of the more unusual and attractive spots in Marion is the lawn fountain and pond at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin G. Westerhaus on South Freeborn.
