The third group of especially happy kids, elated at having their names called in Thursday’s “Kids Drawing,” include Larry Baxter who won the first prize of a bicycle. Other winners were Kathy Weigart, second prize, a dart board that she traded for a doll. Third prize, a doll, went to a doll, Judy Tajchman. Melody Meier got a wrist watch and Margaret Cox took home a big teddy bear.

Martin Bina, well-known young man of the Pilsen community, has purchased Wayne’s Barber Shop in Marion. He will take over operation of the shop on December 27.

Marion bus drivers undertook a new activity last week. They set up and trimmed a giant Christmas tree at Marion Elementary School. The five drivers were Bob Ehrlich, June Jost, Kenneth McGranor, Harold Seibel, and Charles Winkley.

Mary Schimpf invited a number of friends to a pre-Christmas party Saturday night at the home of her parents. Those invited included Susan Bailey Linda Amick, Anita Van Buren, Pam Vinduska, Caroline Vinduska, Henrietta Klein, Sharon Endres, Rosemary Loewens, and Beth Thole.

The local basketball team, sometimes known as the “Marion Mashers” has a game scheduled this Saturday night with the Florence “Wildcats.” Players on the local team are Tom Shirley, Jay Jost, Boyce Baumgartner, Don Druse, Jim Link, Dave Deutschendorf, and Gerry Harris. Eugene Enos is coach.
