Announcement was made this week that brothers Bill and Larry Burkholder will lease Bud’s Conoco Service from W.M. “Bud” Pierce, effective Nov. 1. Gene Winkler and Bob Raleigh will remain at the station. Frank Kreutzman will stay with Pierce in his operation of Pierce Oil Co., bulk Conoco delivery agency, and wholesale jobber for B.F. Goodrich.

Mildred Christensen and Violet Richmond were honored Oct. 21 at the annual “Awards Dinner” in the cafeteria of St. Luke Hospital. Mrs. Christensen received a 10-year service award and Mrs. Richmond, a five-year award.

Mr. and Mrs. Martin Klenda of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Jo, to J. Dennis Dlabal, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dlabal of Wilson. A December wedding is planned.

A capacity crowd of over 320 attended the fifth annual meeting of Golden Years, Inc. at St. Mark’s Activity Center Oct. 21.

Members of the “A” Team Warrior cheerleaders are Susan Yeagley, Toni McElwain, Pat Warneke, Roxy Zerger, and Judy Pankratz. “B” team leaders are Susan Lentz, Michelle Hett, Kathy Perkins and Helen Jackson.

Lowell Ensey, son of Dr. and Mrs. T.C. Ensey, is on the Westmar College varsity football squad.

The Dairy Queen in Marion will close for the season after Oct. 31, according to Mr. and Mrs. Will Helmer, owners.
