City commissioners received bad news this week when Congressman Dan Glickman’s office relayed a report from the Army Corps of Engineers that construction on the flood control project has been delayed. The project originally was proposed for completion in 1977. However, delays have caused that date for construction to be advanced to October 1978

The largest damages claim ever awarded by a jury in Marion County, an amount totaling almost $193,000, was given Saturday in District Court to Dorothy Schaeffer. Mrs. Schaeffer was seriously injured April 1, 1975, in an automobile accident on US-56 north of Lincolnville.

Eight-year-olds include Jason Bina, Greg Tice, and Shane Holub; nine-year-olds are Dale Heidebrecht, Jeremy Schlehuber, and Devin Kelsey; 10- and 11-year-olds are Chris Meierhoff, Darrin Jost, and Michael Bina.

An open house will be held Sunday at the spacious 4,000 square foot home being constructed by the carpentry class at Centre High School for Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bina.
