A public meeting Monday afternoon dealt with the City of Marion’s proposed pre-application for a federal Community Development Block Grant to construct new water lines. Mike Elson of Flint Hills Regional Planning Commission was present to explain procedures involved and assist with the application

Jeff Brewer, talented musician and successful teacher, in his third year at Marion, is the subject of this week’s “Personality Profile.”

Mark Rathert, a native of Marion, has been named project coordinator during construction of the new 36-hole golf course that will be a part of a resort proposed 85 miles south of Wichita on the Kaw Reservoir. Mark is the son of Ann and Francis Rathert of Marion.

Twenty-one members and friends of Neo-Century Club attended a fashion show at Pat Nuss’s Sassy Shop on April 3.

Lester Griffith was honored Saturday night at a retirement supper. He is retiring from his position of 18 years as county extension director and agricultural agent.

The longest-running musical of all the Broadway hits, “Fiddler on the Roof,” will be presented Friday and Saturday at Marion Municipal Auditorium. Players in leading roles are Jerry Elmore, Molly Ferrell, Colene Wiebe, Randy Just, Lori Harris, Bill Hoch, Linda Schaffer, Greg Boyle, Sandy Bridges, and Mike Fruechting.
