Alice Hockensmith was named valedictorian and Jon Wiebe was named salutatorian for Marion High School’s class of 1982 at commencement exercises held Tuesday night

Engagements announced in this issue include those of Shelli Bernhardt and Ronald Hardey, who will be married Aug. 14, and Lori Hett and Douglas Heerey, who are planning an Aug. 22 wedding.

Ecker-Fulkerson-Slifer Post 6958 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will sponsor a noon meal following Memorial Day observances at local cemeteries. The proceeds of suitable donations for the meal will go to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts building fund.

Jeffrey Youk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Youk of rural Durham and a May graduate of Kansas State University, has accepted employment as an agronomist with Ensminger Grain and Seed Co. of Moran.

Darlene Vinduska, president and chairman of the board of Careers Unlimited, Inc. of Overland Park, has been selected as one of the top-10 executives in the professional executive search/career development field. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Vinduska of Marion, she is a 1972 graduate of Marion High School and a 1976 graduate of Kansas State University.
