The new bridge, which won’t be a bridge at all, is approved as far as the City of Marion is concerned. City officials signed an agreement Monday with the Kansas Department of Transportation approving the concept and plans for the new crossing over Luta Creek on Main Street.

Vicki Hartley, Kelly Hajek, and Denise Meierhoff had fun in the snow Friday after school was canceled. The trio spent the morning building an ice castle in the parking lot of Dave’s IGA on East Main.

Marion High School students Mickey Costello and Melissa Robinson served as pages in the Kansas Senate Feb. 2 and are pictured with Sen. Gerald Karr and Gov. John Carlin.

The annual Marion High School Queen of Courts will be crowned Friday night at the varsity match between the Warrior and Centre. Candidates for this year’s honor are Kris Kelsey, Loreen Wiens, Melissa Robinson, Andy Edwardson, Tom Schafer, and Bryan Hess.

Births announced this week include Katie Lynn Christiansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Christiansen of Durham, born Jan. 21; Jordan Aiken Kelsey, son of Doug and Mary Kelsey of Solomon, born Jan. 31; and Lacy Nicole Hoskinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Hoskinson of Topeka, born Feb. 8.
