After several months without a menswear store, the Marion business district now has a men’s clothing department. Mrs. Gaylord (Jean) Maples of Peabody is opening a menswear store in the northwest portion of The Sassy Shop operated by Pat Nuss at Third and Main.

Denice Bina, cake decorator from the Pilsen area, gave a demonstration and informative talk on decorating with icing at the Nov. 2 meeting of Neo Century Club.

Ernest Holub, commander of Ecker-Fulkerson-Slifer VFW Post 6958, is pictured as he reads the names of 59 Marion County veterans who lost their lives in military service to the nation. This was a part of the dedication, Wednesday afternoon, of the Gold Star memorial at the VFW post home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rust of Wichita announce the engagement of their daughter, Sue, to Brad Herbel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Herbel of Marion. The wedding is planned for Sept. 18, 1982.

Dr. Don Coldsmith, syndicated columnist and author, will be the featured speaker Monday evening at the Farm-City Steak Fry at Marion City Building.

Seven students from Marion High School were among those selected to participate in the District Choir to perform Dec. 5 at Wichita State University. They are Cindy Heerey, Jon Wiebe, Rod Just, Joe Makovec, Hugh Webb, Randy Kelsey, and David Hanson.
