Marion residents will get a detailed look at the downtown redevelopment plan Tuesday at the city building. George Matthews and Mike Hauck of KDED will present the plan which was funded through a federal grant. The revitalization plan studies conditions in the downtown area from Central Park on the east to Walnut Street on the west.

In conjunction with local May Day festivities and the sidewalk sale, members of the Marion High School “Charlie Brown” musical cast will continue the May Fete tradition of winding the May Pole. The event will be Saturday on the lot between Duckwall’s and the Sassy Shop.

Edward Hett of Marion is among 23 medical students from the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita who will graduate May 18. Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hett of Marion, he recently completed his residency in family practice at St. Joseph Medical Center, Wichita.

About 115 area Boy, Girl, and Cub Scouts, their parents and troop leaders combed the backwoods at Marion Reservoir Saturday during their traditional cleanup at the lake.

Over 200 persons were on hand Sunday to tour the Marion Builders’ Senior Center on South Third Street. The grand opening marked the end of a two-year plan to provide a recreation and meeting site for senior citizens in Marion and the surrounding area.
