Terry Holt, park manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Marion Lake, delivered a slide presentation on new improvements at the park at the weekly meeting of Marion Kiwanis Club.
Kevin Marler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Marler, celebrated his fifth birthday with a series of parties. They began Friday when several little folks were invited to his home. Those present were Todd Winter, John Hart, Aaron Helmer, and Gary and Karen Klose. Family members were guests at parties in the afternoon and evening.
Harry Bennett of Marion was elected to the board of directors of the Kansas Organic Producers Association at a meeting in Lawrence Saturday.
“Spoon River Anthology” by Edgar Lee Masters will be presented Saturday at the annual dinner-theatre performance by the Marion Community Arts Council. The local-talent cast consists of Rob and Julie Fischer, Chris Buller, Pat Fox, and Pam and Dick Varenhorst.
Paul Loney, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Loney, has been notified that he has been designated a “State of Kansas Scholar” by the Board of Regents of Kansas. The scholarship carries a cash stipend of up to $500 per academic year.
