A Tuesday morning fire at MarBowl Lanes, Weldon and Thorp Streets, resulted in serious fire and smoke damage to the west portion of the building. Owner Bob Risenhoover said the bowling lanes should be in service again by Thursday.

At least 10 mailboxes in front of homes surrounding Marion County Lake were damaged by vandals sometime Dec. 27 or 28. Lake Superintendent Dale Snelling believes that the vandals drove past each box in a pickup and someone equipped with a pipe rode in the bed and struck each mailbox as the truck drove by.

Jack Webb of Marion has been named “number one salesman of 1980” by The Lee Co., Salina. Webb is pictured with Jim Richmond, owner of Marion Lumber Co., one of his clients in Marion.

Betty Sanders was hostess at a come and go coffee at her home Monday morning in honor of her mother, Elizabeth Romeyk, and her aunt, Margaret Eberlien, who are visiting here from Islip, Long Island, New York.

Herb Wullschelger and Boyde Coffey are pictured as they help Noreen Weems, director of the Marion County Department for Elderly, complete her move from the annex building next to the courthouse to the Senior Center on South Third.
