Police officers report there were incidents on Halloween, but nothing of the magnitude that marred the event during recent years. Explosives placed in it destroyed a mail box at the home of City Clerk Joan Bowers, tail light lenses and windows were broken on a camper-trailer owned by Fred Helmer, and Ezra Boese reported a flag pole in his yard was bent over.

Dr. Carol Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bowers of Marion, has been certified as a diplomate of the America Academy of Family Physicians.

Eight girls from Marion were among 27 Cadette Girl Scouts who hiked the Dove’s Roost Nature Trail at John Redmond Lake recently. Those participating were Wendy Hett, Leann Snelling, Theresa Wynn, Melanie Druse, Julia Gooding, Kelley Enos, Brenda Smith, and Marcia Gooding.

Carol and Christine Laue hosted a Halloween party at their home Saturday evening. Guests were Jennifer McLain, Dodie Cork and her cousin Jill Cork from Iowa, Stephanie Summerville, Tiffany Johnson, Robin Summervill, Denise Meierhoff, Lucy and Lily Guerra, and Terri and Traci Helmer.

Door prize winners at the grand opening of Schoneman Shoe Store under new owners, Peggy and Leo Blackman, were Bev Cooper, western boots; Delores Spencer, ladies dress shoes; Angie Walz, canvas shoes; Ron Cork children’s shoes, and Debbie Grady, pair of casual shoes.
