Old-fashioned, but brand new ceiling fans are being installed in the auditorium at Marion Municipal Building. Two fans will be suspended from the ceiling in the main auditorium to bring hot air down, making the large room easier to heat more economically.

The Kansas Information Network (KIN) of radio stations has named Greg Boyle, Marion High School senior, most outstanding football player for the Kansas Central District for his performance against Herington Oct. 3.

Terri Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Robinson of Florence and a graduate of Marion High School, has been promoted to the grade of sergeant in the Air Force.

Anita Hancock will present a concert of sacred music Sunday at Strassburg Baptist Church. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schlehuber of Marion, she presently is teaching in the Cawker City and Tipton schools.

Bob and Kathy Sprowls, new owners of Kingfisher’s Inn, invited the public to their grand opening this Saturday and Sunday. They will introduce Italian foods to the menu at the county lake restaurant.

K.J. McGurren was honored Oct. 17 at a retirement party in recognition of his 39 years of service to Hallett Construction Co., the last 14 years spent in Marion following acquisition by Hallett of the former Riddle Quarries.
