A New York production company is seeking information on Charles Faust, a Marion man who spent a year with the New York Giants baseball team. Faust was with the Giants in 1910-1911. Legend has it he was kept on the team because they won with him in the dugout. Whenever Faust was not present, the Giants lost.

Grandmother Jerry Heath is justifiably proud of her globetrotting granddaughter, Kim Heath. Jerry and granddaughter are pictured on this week’s front page. Kim has been selected as one of 17 students who will work in Guatemala on a project toward getting an MBA degree from California Polytechnic University.

Members of the Marion High School Class of 1942 will observe their golden anniversary reunion when they gather Old Settlers’ Day. There were 37 in the class, with 22 of the 27 living planning to attend.

Four Marion High School students will be honored Sept. 16 by the University of Kansas at a dinner program at Holiday Manor Convention Center, McPherson. The group includes Traci K. Darrow, Micah K. Hanson, Sherry Lange, and Ashley R. Loomis.

Melanie Druse of Marion recently graduated from Xenon International School of Hair Design at Wichita. She was honored as valedictorian of her class at ceremonies held Sept. 1.
