City of Marion commissioners covered a wide gamut of potential problems when they met Monday afternoon — addressing the subjects of exotic animals, loud music, and junk car bodies. All three subjects have been of concern to citizens of the community.

Merri Greene and Melissa Ramsey are pictured as they hoist the Class 2A sub-state championship trophy for their teammates Saturday after their 53-51 victory over Inman. The Marion High School girls have qualified for state in three sports this season and won state championships in cross-country and volleyball.

Robin Summervill, Marion, was named to the University of Kansas School of Education honor roll for the fall of 1991. Summervill, a junior, is the daughter of Mick and Marge Summervill.

Carol Maggard has been nominated for a four-year term to the Marion City Library board. City commissioners must approve the nomination before it becomes official in May. Maggard will replace Alberta Bartlett, who is leaving the board after two four-year terms.

Lorie Plenert, a 1990 Marion High School graduate performed Feb. 24 for Marion Elementary School students as part of the Cloud County Community College production of Shakespeare‘s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Plenert, a sophomore at CCCC, played Puck in the adapted children’s version of the classic play.
