Work continues on the construction of additional classrooms at Marion Elementary School. Marion Unified School District is considering construction of a physical education facility near the elementary school, as well as remodeling Bown-Corby Elementary School for administrative offices, or building a new administrative facility.

The bowling team of Marion Die and Fixture is first in the team event category of the 31st annual tournament of the Marion City Men’s Bowling Association. Leading in the singles event is Dennis Steiner with 669.

Marion High School will host its annual Queen of Courts ceremonies Friday. Queen candidates are Melissa Ramsey, Angie Bina, and Merri Greene. King candidates are Shane Klein, Brett Sprowls, and Alan Meisinger. Former king and queen Sara Mills and Sheldon Bina will return for the coronation ceremonies.

Joe Endres of Emporia has been named “salesman of the year” by American Electric Company. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Endres of Marion and the son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Goertz of Durham.

Marion High School senior John Wheeler has received a full four-year football scholarship to Division 1-AA Idaho State University. Wheeler, player of the year and a dominating force as lineman for the Warriors, will play on the offensive line for the Bengals.
