Three lots at 120 North Coble in Marion were purchased by the county. Commissioners said the property was purchased for eventual expansion of the road and bridge department, which is directly north on Coble.

Three Marionites are among Sunflower state personalities featured in the new book, ”Kansas People,” print version of KAKE-TV’s Hatteberg’s People. They are Msgr. Arthur Tonne and Jack Beaston and his wife, Vernie.

Andrew Brookens and Matt Williams are pictured hanging mittens on the mitten tree at Bown-Corby Elementary School. Gloves and mittens on the tree will be donated to the Community Christmas for Kids program.

John Wheeler of Marion was named Class 2-1-A all-area defensive football player of the year by the Salina Journal. He also was named to the second team all-area, all classes by the paper. Wheeler also has been recognized by the Wichita Eagle and to the all-class 2A team

Three gift certificates, redeemable at any Marion Chamber of Commerce member business, were awarded at Sunday’s drawing. Earlene Liptau received a $100 certificate, Nadine May, $75 certificate, and Judy Steinborn, $50 certificate.

Marion High School student Lori Tice was selected as Student of the Month for November by faculty members. She is the daughter of Martin and Margaret Tice of Marion.
