A national teleconference on rural tourism development was held in Marion Nov. 20 with about 25 Marion County residents attending.

More than a dozen incidents of collisions or autos sliding into ditches were reported Friday afternoon when roads turned icy from heavy snow accumulation. Warmer temperatures Saturday melted most of the snow.

The fifth birthday of Nick Carlson was celebrated this weekend when two parties were held at the home of his parents, Greg and Linda Carlson. Little friends invited to join him Saturday afternoon were his sister Carla, Chelsi and Chase Carlson, Josh Kelsey, Clinton Jeffrey, Dale Vogel, Sawaun Vu, Toni Gordon, and Emalee and Joel Versch. Members of his family were guests at another party on Sunday.

The annual Farm-City Appreciation night, sponsored for decades by Marion Chamber of Commerce was Monday evening at Marion City Building, From 300 to 500 area farmers and ranchers enjoyed the event.

Among students recognized on the Director’s Honor Roll for scholastic achievement at Salina Area Vocational Technical School are the following from Marion: Alan Kruse, son of Dwight and Jerrie Kruse; Rick Lange, son of Larry and Ruth Lange, and Tamara Stenzel, daughter of Don and Betty Stenzel.

A new flagpole, donated by Leslie Kitchenmaster, was dedicated Nov. 20 at Centre Elementary School.
