St. Luke Hospital and Living Center will celebrate its expansion with an open house and dedication ceremonies Sunday. The public is encouraged to attend the culmination of a construction project, which started more than a year ago.

Gerry Harris announced this week that he has voluntarily surrendered his Ford car/truck and Mercury automobile dealerships effective Sept. 15.

Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf has been in many parades since he and his troops returned victorious from the Persian Gulf War. Unable to make it to the Florence Labor Day celebration, he sent his top representative, Brian Bina, in a battery-powered Jeep carrying the names of 27 Marion County Desert Storm veterans.

“Beary Special Babies” born at St. Luke Hospital during the month of August were Andrew Michael Lovett, Lee Joseph Vogel, Beatrice Lea Holub, Heather Ann Combs, and Derek Allen Scheuerman.

Supporting the football, volleyball, and cross country teams at Marion High School this fall are cheerleaders Tami Stephens, Tammy Johnson, Amy Christensen, Renee Goodin, and Jodi Smith.
