Michelle Taylor of Marion, who went to Tunisia Oct. 2 to serve as a nanny for a couple working with the American embassy, was one of more than 150 Americans evacuated from Tunisia in the wake of assassinations and Middle East war fears.

Wedding vows were exchanged Dec. 28 by Marsha Elaine Setzkorn of rural Dodge City and Mark Wayne Meyer of rural Herington, in a double ring ceremony at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City.

Chris Hett, son of Rocky and Shirley Jo Hett and a senior at Marion High School, has been selected by the faculty as Student of the Month for January.

The Golden Wheat Chapter of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia, meeting in Wichita Sunday, awarded a special Document of Recognition and Appreciation to Raymond F. Wiebe, Marion County area historian.

Jerry Cady, Marion, has been named Kansas’ top “New Agent of the Year” by the National Farmers Union Insurance Co. at the state convention in McPherson. Cady serves Marion, Chase, and Lyon counties.

Charlie Harrison, Carol Smith, and Chris Sprowls of Marion, Linda Linnens, Florence, Mary Olson, Lincolnville, and David Mueller, Tampa, have been selected to participate in the third class of Leadership Marion County.
