Moses Jay, chief of the Chiricahua band of Apache Indians, and his wife, Sherry, showed genuine Indian artifacts taught dances, and told legends to Bown-Corby students Monday as a part of a unit project taught by second grade instructors Ginger Becker and Mary Jeffrey.

Brenda Bina has been named an “All-District 10 runner” after competing in the cross country district championships Saturday at Lindsborg. A freshman at Emporia State University, she is the daughter of Laverne and Harriet Bina of Marion.

“Beary Special Babies” born at St. Luke Hospital in October were Melissa Renae Hiebert, James Michel VanBuren, and Roxann Nicole Ross.

City Attorney Ed Wheeler has started proceedings toward quiet titles of many lots in Marion Cemetery. Most of the lots have owners who are now unknown, dating back into the 1880s. The initial proceeding, Resolution 90-8 is published this week in the official city newspaper.

The comedy, “Blithe Spirit,” will be performed by Marion High School students Friday and Saturday at Marion City Auditorium. Performers include Chris Hett, Katrina Swan, Julie Sellers, Melanie Kraus, Sara Mills, Jennifer Blount, and Jared Sardou. There are no admission fees or reserved seats.

University of Kansas has announced several students from the area have received substantial scholarships this semester. They include Carl Abbott, Christine Laue, Jennifer Thole, and Dena Connell of Marion.
