Marion County commissioners will visit the former Florence Health Care location Monday afternoon to determine whether it is a viable location for a new county jail. The building has been vacant and for sale for several years.

Jim and Tina Novak, owners of Kingfisher Steakhouse and Lounge at Marion County Lake, have decided to sell their restaurant. The restaurant closed several weeks ago.

Vehicles were stopped Friday at Marion schools and checked for seatbelts. Those in which the driver and all passengers were buckled in received $1. Others received literature about the importance of seatbelts.

Marion Warriors are ready for the football season. Seniors leading the pack this year are John Barr III, Dusty Britton, Jason Hett, Kyle Hett, Emmanuel Jackson, Clay Riggs, Riley Ross, Chase Williams, and exchange students Toby Braeuer and Thomas Schraffrath.

Several hundred people attended Marion County firefighters’ third annual fun-and-games fundraiser Sunday afternoon at Marion County Park and Lake. McKenzie Ehlers won a Henry Golden Boy .22 rifle, Jaci Bridgewater won a La-Z-Boy recliner, and Tyler Arocha was chosen to ride on a fire truck to start the first round of fireworks.
