Hail fell Sunday morning throughout eastern Kansas. Golf ball-size hailstones pictured on the front page were collected northwest of Lincolnville. No wind or damage was reported from the storm.
Marion High School students will present “Buccaneer Billy and Luxurious Lily” Friday and Saturday at the city auditorium. Main cast members are Bret Billings, Luke Bowers, Michael Brookens, Rachel Davidson, Tedra Eis, Isaac Guetersloh, Riley Ross, and Jordan Timm.
Marion native Cindy (Heerey) Henning has been promoted vice president of Allens, Gibbs, and Houlik, a CPA and advisory firm. She is a graduate of Marion High School and Emporia State University. Her parents are Charles and Virginia Heerey of Marion.
Seniors Toni Gordon, Megan Hudson, and Allie Maddox from the girls’ team and juniors Jason and Travis Hett from the boys’ team are Marion High School athletes named to the all-league Mid-Central Activities Association teams.
Junior Girl Scout Troop 58 of Marion requested and received permission from the city to make improvements and be caretakers of Ann’s Park at Roosevelt and Kellison Sts. Members of the troop are Emily Cyr, Cara Martin, Cassandra McPhail, Erin Meierhoff, Corey Shields, and Monica Spachek.
