Secretary Brown continues to make the Y.M.C.A. Reading Room more and more attractive. He has filled the windows full of pretty house plants and added a large number of leading daily papers to the current literature accessible. Let everybody feel at liberty to go in and make themselves at home.

Another old soldier has been made happy. Our friend, Mr. G.D. Miller has been granted a pension, through the efforts of Mr. W.C. Reiff. He gets eight dollars per month and arrearages from August 1890. Good.

The Free Methodists have been holding revival services in their quarters on west Main street the past week, and have awakened quite a deep interest in religion in the hearts of many.

In referring to the remarkable cure of Miss Grace Hannaford, who came here from St. Louis some months ago, an invalid from progressive paralysis, and went home well last week, credit should have been given to the skill of Dr. Piper and the patient’s uncle, Dr. Hannaford, as well as to the mineral water. Mrs. Piper, who administered the medicated baths, by the way, is also entitled to credit for the happy result.

There will be a concert at the Aulne school house Saturday evening, Dec. 10. Besides home talent, some of the best musicians of Marion and Peabody will be represented. Admission, 20 cents.
