Six of the notorious Dalton gang of robbers rode into Coffeyville, Kansas, Wednesday morning and proceeded to go through the banks. The citizens rallied, and in the fight that ensued, three citizens were killed, including the brave town marshal. But the gang was wiped from the face of the earth, with one exception. Five of them were shot down, and the sixth will be caught, it is believed. One citizen, a liveryman, killed three of the outlaws with his Winchester.

Another worthy old soldier has been made happy through the patriotism of the Republican party and the energy of agent W.C. Reiff. Mr. John Jaques gets $10 per month and $160 back pay. This is one of the best ways in the world to increase the per capita.

We get the following item concerning a fatal accident to a citizen of Marion, from Tuesday’s Kansas City Star: John Baker, of Marion, Kansas, was run into by a Metropolitan car last night a little west of the Bluff street bridge in the West bottoms. His right thigh was dislocated, his ribs mashed and loosened from the spine, his skull laid bare and his left ear split. His injuries were dressed by Police Surgeon Iuen at Central station, after which he was removed to the city hospital, where he died this morning. The deceased was the old man who lived on First street, near the Cottonwood river bridge.
