We took occasion last week to “go through” the Marion Sanitarium, better known as the Mineral Water Health Resort, and were greatly pleased with the appearance of things. Mrs. Dr. Mammel, the new physician in charge, is a very pleasant lady, a physician of undoubted skill and of extensive experience. Her idea is that a health resort ought to be a cleanly place, and hence she has revolutionized the appearance of things in this respect.

John Olsen has two carpenters at work on his barn in Gale township, and today, Wednesday, it takes the united help of himself and his son to hold down a board while the carpenters nail it on. The wind is one “bender” indeed, today.

The rains of the past week have put the farmer back in his work and gives the cockleburs a fine chance. Listed corn is suffering the most, and some will have to plant over, while others have not finished planting yet.

I believe I have never mentioned the fact that the west Marion school ground has been surrounded by a row of elm trees, forty-five in number, I believe, as each tree has a label on it with the name of the state. I do not know who suggested the idea, but I think it must have been their teacher, Mr. McMullin, who was always suggesting something interesting and instructive.
