There is a double cause for rejoicing at the Presbyterian parsonage. Rev. Bright is rapidly recovering from his recent severe illness, and a sweet girl baby has come to bless the home.

Dr. Jeffrey Martin has sold his business to Dr. R.F. Harris of Manhattan and expects to leave in a short time for Iowa where he will make his home hereafter. Dr. Martin is an excellent physician and has enjoyed a large practice but doesn’t like the long rides necessary to a general practice here.

Walter Sharp was home several days last week. He is busy filling several concrete bridges in Cowley county. He has just completed two large jobs and has the contracts already secured for two more. He may not return to Marion until next winter. In the meantime his Mineral Water Health Resort is in good hands here and Mrs. Dr. Mammel and the Record will take care of that.

County Attorney Carpenter has been making a vigorous pull on the jointists in the past week. In this good work he is heartily endorsed by every good citizen. Among the many good citizens who are in favor of the vigorous enforcement of the law, it is pleasant to say one is our pioneer friends, George Griffith, one of the three original settlers on this townsite. Uncle George says that he has paid taxes here from the beginning and helped to sustain the local government. He wants that government to protect the people from the liquor curse. He says that fellows who have been let off tolerably easy will have no leniency shown them if they are caught monkeying with the law hereafter. That’s the way all good citizens should talk. Let the good work go on, Mr. Carpenter.
