Yesterday was the anniversary of two great historical events. It was the “birthday” of St. Patrick and the editor of this paper. We are glad we and St. Patrick were born. This is a very nice world to be born into, and St. Patrick, at least, helped to make it a pleasant place to live in. We have tried in an humble way to imitate Saint Patrick in one of his great hobbies—his opposition to snakes.

All eyes are turned to Oklahoma and the Indian Territory, and thousands are waiting anxiously for official notice of the opening to settlement of lands in the Cherokee Strip, and in the Cheyenne and Arapahoe country.

A very merry company of guests met at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. George Ewbank on the evening of March 10, the occasion being the silver anniversary of their wedding. An elegant supper was served and there was an hour or two of happy converse. The Ewbanks were recipients of a number of useful presents from their guests including five dollars, ten dollars in silver, morocco pocket book, white silk handkerchief, black silk muffler, set of silver table spoons, silver butter knife, silver butter dish, pickle castor and napkin ring, silver tea spoons, silver butter knife, silver knives, forks and teaspoons and a silver sugar spoon.
