Another old settler has crossed over the pontoon of death to the other shore. Mr. George S. Town died rather suddenly last Friday night, at Allen, Kansas, where he was at work. His wife and brother-in-law, William Jenkins, were notified of his serious illness in time to reach him and minister to him in his last hours.

Mrs. Noah Asher, the good wife of the popular pastor on the Marion Circuit, was the recipient of a handsome Christmas present from the ladies of the circuit. It was a fine “patchwork” quilt each having embroidered upon it the name of the donor, with appropriate motto.

Mr. N.A. Palmer of Catlin township was married to Miss Marie I. Reed of Wichita last Tuesday and they were given a fine reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Palmer, the groom’s parents.

From Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Mollohan we learned some interesting facts concerning the Sunday School which meets at the Wren school house. The school has an average attendance of 75, which is certainly large for a country school. The school raised and expended last year $125. Two hundred and 50 books have recently been added to the library—75 of them a Christmas gift from Mr. John Yeagley of Pennsylvania a brother of D.L. Yeagley.
