Doc Yeagley brought in a lot of nice “roasting ears” this week from corn he planted July 6, and which he thinks will mature into a fair crop.

Mr. Alex Christie, long engaged in the jewelry business in Marion and for years the efficient clerk of our Board of Education, left yesterday for his new home in Montana carrying with him the cordial well wishes of all our people. He is a fine jeweler, an excellent business man and a splendid citizen.

Mrs. McMullin has bought out the Hall photo gallery and moved it to her gallery from Third Street. She has fitted the rooms up with new and elegant scenery and is now prepared to do first class work.

Mr. W.S. Drake has returned from the west and thinks that after all Marion is about the finest place this side of the celestial city.

An industrious boy wants to work for his board while attending school in Marion. Who can help a worthy boy in this way? Call at this office.

Our young farmer friend, Charlie Miller, makes an awful test of the Record’s finding abilities. He wants us to find a two-year-old black horse colt, with little white in the face and one white foot, which strayed away last February, and has not since been heard of. He will pay well for information of the animal’s whereabouts.
