The “apple wagon” will probably start west from Marion Count this year.

A fine young lawyer has taken up his residence with L.F. Keller without any technical “objections” or demurrers being filed in the case.

A fire set out by some little boys burned the barn in which the delivery horse for Downes & Bowers was kept, and consumed the poor animal together with a lot of feed, harness, etc.

Our friend, John Fox, the Wilson Township orchardist, says he never saw such a prospect for fruit as now gladdens eyes and hearts of the people. He says the trees are entirely too full.

The Record last week closed a reference to some very old people with the query “who is the oldest person in the county?” The question was answered Friday by a visit to Marion from Mr. Samuel Yarman of Ramona who is undoubtedly the oldest person in the county. He was born in England in 1785 and is therefore nearly 106 years of age.

Since our last issue, Kansas has been visited with several good soaking rains. Wheat and oats and corn and other products of the soil are almost laughing aloud while the people wear broad smiles. The few chinch bugs, the chronic kicker, and other similar pests alone are sad.
