Mr. W.W. Loveless has been in Valley Falls for several weeks selling out a stock of hardware. He has met there “Lon” Robinson, the founder of Marion’s first paper (the foundation on which the Record was built) and who recounted to Mr. Loveless many old events of those early days and inquired about all the old citizens.

Look out for the ground hog Monday.

Two of Mr. William Keller’s turkeys have been missing since the big snow storm New Years Day. It was supposed they had been eaten by the hogs, which had devoured several other fowls on the place about the time the turkeys disappeared. But on Wednesday, 28 days after their disappearance, they emerged from the remnant of a huge snow drift that had covered them all that time. They had lived without food and came out shadows of their former selves.

Main street is receiving a needed cleaning this week.

Warner Bros. have opened a general repair shop next door to Knapp & Scott’s grocery, where furniture and other articles will be repaired, upholstered and made as good as new.

Winslow, Curtis & McDuffie keep making improvements in their law office.
