The boys played their usual Halloween jokes in Marion, and lots of ’em. Signs were removed, and all sorts of pranks played. A Y.M.C.A. sign was put up in front of the billiard hall, and over the door of the RECORD office an original package sign was put up, with a picture of a beer bottle and a foaming glass of the forbidden beverage. It made a great “run” on the office, on the part of thirsty looking fellows. The boys seem to have confined their acts to innocent fun. We hear of no destruction of property.

The Burns Mirror enters upon its second volume this week. Burns should be proud of its paper.

Will Runyan’s many friends, young and old, are rejoiced to see him around again, all right after a severe tussle with malaria.

Marion boys must be awful careless with their coats. The notice of the little boy’s coat found by Rev. Mr. Crone brought four inquirers to this office for a garment of this kind. Judge Doster’s little son was the loser of it.

Wm. Asbell, a lad about fifteen years of age, was bitten on the wrist by a rattlesnake, at Quarry, five miles north of Marion, last Saturday. He was dipping water from a spring, when the reptile which was sunning itself on a ledge of rocks above the spring, sprang on him. When Dr. Martin reached him he was badly swollen and delirious, but is now getting along all right.
