Every ward in Marion voted in favor of the $60,000 bonds for water works and electric lights, late week. The improvements will bring Marion right up to the same class to which Peabody has belonged for a long time. It may sound that was from a distance, but in reality the system Marion is about to install is equal to that of the larger cities. The machinery is to be installed in duplicate to guard against a shutdown during a breakdown.

Marion Real Estate is looking up. It’s beginning to get active. D.L. Yeagley is preparing plans for a new cottage on the hill south of Josiah Good’s, the dwelling now occupying the lot is being moved by J.C. Good to his lots east on Grand avenue and remodeled. On Tuesday, W.F. Hoch sold his residence property on the hill to J.C. Thomas for $4000. On Wednesday, Mr. Isaac Good purchased of Mr. H.M. Thorp the block on Elm street, south of Mr. Thorp’s residence and on the west side of the street. A beautiful location for a fine residence. Mr. Good expects soon to build and take advantage of the natural lay of the ground for its park effect and make a pretty place of it. Elm street is becoming famous in Marion.
